About the Anesthesia Technology Degree
Description
Become an anesthesia technologist and you’ll be a vital member of the anesthesia care team. These technologists work under the direction of the anesthesia provider and are proficient in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment required for the delivery of anesthesia care. Graduates are eligible to take the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians (ASATT) National Certification Examination to become certified as an Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.).
Anesthesia technologists are in high demand.

Program Outcomes
- Exhibit patient care skills
- Model professional behaviors as an AT
- Provide psychological support and explain procedures to patients
- Adhere to universal precautions and aseptic technique in preparing and handling instruments and supplies
- Monitor patients during cardiac procedures
- Prepare equipment for surgical procedures
- Operate major medical equipment (i.e. balloon pumps, cell savers, medication warmers)
- Anticipate the sequence of events during surgical procedures
Admission Requirements
This program admits students through a petition selection process.

- TEAS pre-qualifying exam, minimum score of 70%
- C+ or higher: BIOSCI-177* or BIOSCI 201*
- HEALTH-101
