About the Pharmacy Technician Diploma
Description
Gain the skills and knowledge needed to be a pharmacy technician in a variety of practice settings. Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of a pharmacist. Graduates are prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s Certified Pharmacy Technician exam. All graduates must be 18 years of age or older.
Due to the evolving role of the pharmacy technician and the aging population, there is a need for trained pharmacy technicians.
You can earn the Healthcare Customer Service certificate on the way to completing this technical diploma.
Additional program details: Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of a pharmacist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care.
Attributes that will contribute to your success as a pharmacy technician include attention to detail, dependability as related to punctuality and attendance, a neat and well-groomed appearance, and good interpersonal communication skills.
During the clinical courses, students acquire experience in both community and institutional pharmacies. This program may be taken on a part-time basis.
Graduates are prepared to take the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) Certification Exam to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate personal/interpersonal knowledge and skills in the practice of pharmacy
- Demonstrate foundational professional knowledge and skills for the practice of pharmacy
- Prepare prescriptions/medication orders and pharmaceutical products for dispensing, distribution, and disposal
- Compound sterile and nonsterile medications
- Follow established policies and procedures for procurement, billing, reimbursement and inventory management
- Utilize pharmacy technology and informatics
- Adhere to state and federal regulations governing the practice of pharmacy
- Apply the principles of quality assurance to the practice of pharmacy
