About the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Technician Diploma

DESCRIPTION

NOTE: Downtown Milwaukee Campus: year one only. Oak Creek Campus: year one and year two.

MATC’s equipment includes industrial-based CNC machining centers and turning centers, and computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) workstations. Students gain hands-on experience in all phases of programming and operations.

You can earn the CNC Setup and Operations certificate and the Machine Tool Operations technical diploma on the way to completing this program.

Additional program details: This program prepares you for employment in manufacturing industries that use CNC machine tools. High mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and keen spatial and visual abilities are important for success in this program.

Tool and Die Making

This is a four-semester, full-time, day program; the first two semesters are common with the one-year Machine Tool Operations program. All courses within the first year are based on the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Machining Level One Skill Standards in nine separate skill areas. During the third and fourth semesters, students learn how to build and sample basic stamping dies and plastic injection molds.
