DESCRIPTION
For opportunities that require outdoor work, creativity and plant knowledge, check out horticulture/landscape careers. This program includes coursework in landscape maintenance and arboriculture, and emphasizes hands-on learning.
There is a steady demand for arborists, horticulturists, landscape designers and landscapers.
You can earn the Landscape Horticulture Technician on the way to completing this degree.
Additional program details: Sustainable and environmental horticulture operations; maintaining healthy trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants; selecting and installing plant material; operating equipment; and developing and executing landscape plans are covered to prepare you for careers in the horticulture/landscaping field. For hands-on learning, the Mequon Campus features a greenhouse and extensively landscaped grounds.
Students can participate in the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Student Landscape Competition and Career Days, as well as the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) Student Career Days. MATC’s Horticulture Club is a very active student organization.
